In winter, Plentiful snow and multiple ski areas are close by.  Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain are just a few minutes away; Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands are 45 minute to an hour away.  Snowmobilers have hundreds of miles of the most beautiful trails in the US.

In summer, Lakes with crystalline water offer swimmers and boaters limitless pleasure.  Guests have unlimited use of the private Bellaire Beach Club included free of charge with their rental.  Golfers have 108 holes of golf within a 10 minute drive, including courses designed by Robert Trent Jones (The Chief) and Arnold Palmer (The Legend)! 

In spring and fall, Sportsmen staying at the Chateau have exclusive access to a 160 acre wilderness preserve situated on the banks of the Cedar River, a Blue Ribbon trout stream.  A hunter and fisherman’s paradise.

Winter Activities

 

 

Skiing   Schuss Mountain is five minutes away from the Chateau.  It has been rated one of the 10 best family resorts in the Midwest.   Schuss Mountain offers ski and snowboarding school for all ages and abilities.   Schuss Mountain has slopes for everyone: green for beginners, blue for intermediates, black for experts.   The Shanty Creek Chateau is an easy, 45 minute drive from Boyne Mountain, as well.

Golf

 

 

Seven golf courses, three of them championship caliber, are within ten minutes of the Shanty Creek Chateau.   The Legend, designed by Arnold Palmer, and Cedar River, designed by Tom Wyskopf, are two of Michigan’s best courses.   The Chief, designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones offers challenging golf on what is probably Michigan’s most beautiful course.   Nearby, the Bellaire Golf Club, The Farm, and the resort courses at Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain, provide yet more opportunities just minutes away.   Ag-A-Ming, Wilderness Valley, the Marsh, and Bay Harbor are less than an hour away.

Watersports

 

The Bellaire area is a water-wonderland.  Torch Lake and Lake Bellaire provide unsurpassed swimming and boating fun.   Visitors to The Shanty Creek Chateau have access to a private beach club (with a sandy beach, lounge chairs, play structures, pavilion, picnic tables, grills, and bathrooms).  With its firm, sandy bottom and crystal clear water, Lake Bellaire is one of Michigan’s best swimming lakes.
